Happy Groundhog Day

Well, where I live we experienced a blizzard last night and most things are closed due to the snow. But in any event, today is groundhog day – and I know that we all trust a groundhog to tell us whether spring will come early.

Today Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow, so spring is supposed to come early…

Actually Phil has been right 39% of the time, so you can take what you will from this annual activity. I would like to believe the little fuzzy creature, but at the moment with all the snow we have I am not sure that is possible this year.

Cute Erasers

When I was younger I collected erasers, some cute and others just because they were erasers. The Japanese make some incredibly cute things and here are some adorable erasers!

From Iwako:

1. Animals

2. Sea Animals

3.  Japanese Snacks

4. 4 piece animal set:

The above erasers have links where you can purchase them, but here are some more pictures of the various erasers the company has and currently does have:

Tare Panda

Tare Panda is a panda book and game character from Japan. The name means lazy or droopy panda, and the character is a very lazy panda who has to get around by rolling over. It loves to eat mochi and relax in teacups.

I think this guy is sooo cute! I have seen stuffed animals of it before, and did not know what it was until I decided to research it today.

Do you love tarepanda too? You can find a lot of merchandise like the below stuffed panda at shopkawaii.com:

Here is a cake of the little guys:

Cake from Krallecakes

It looks just like this stack of stuffed pandas:

Blizzard?

Well, where I live we are supposed to be getting a blizzard tonight into tomorrow. So far there is only a little wind and snow – so we shall see. But in honor of winter here are puppies enjoying the snow:

Angry Birds

Do you love to play Angry Birds as much as I do?

Here is an amazing set of cake toppers designed to be like the characters from the game:

These are 24 pieces in the set, all are edible. Cost is $115 – aviable from artisancakecompany on Esty.

If you have never played the game the green pigs stole the bird’s eggs, so you shoot the above pictured birds from a catapult to try and destroy the fortresses protecting the pigs. It is a lot more fun than it sounds! To learn more visit Rovio.com.

Ghostbusters – Guinea Pig Style

Today I found this amazing comic featuring guinea pigs in a key scene from the end of the first Ghostbusters movie:

I think the tiny proton packs and the Guinea Pig Stay Puft are so adorable!

Do not know much about Ghostbusters?    See IMDB or gbfans.com.

Squirrel Appreciation Day

January 21 was Squirrel Appreciation Day, sorry that I missed this post on the day of! But to honor the cute and humble squirrel, here are some pictures and facts:

There are more than 300 different species of squirrel.

“squirrel” comes from the Greek word skiouros meaning shadow-tailed.

Thanks to food supplies in cities and suburbs squirrels can reach a density far greater than in the actual wild.
