Happy April Fools’ Day!

Happy 2015!

Happy New Year! May all our readers have a year filled with joy, growth, and furry friends!

I was kind enough to sport a makeshift party hat for some New Years cheer:

The human said that penguins were fun and match my fur colors. I am not certain they embody the idea of celebrating a new year, but humans think in funny ways sometimes. The hat is simply a Santa hat with tinfoil on the outside. Took the human two seconds and I only wore it while I ate my carrot, so the minimal effort on her part was justified.

Happy 2015 everyone!

Marmot Face

Greenpeace set up a GoPro camera to take a time lapse video of the beautiful landscape of Glacier National Park to make a statement about preserving it. What they got instead turned out to be something unexpected:

A marmot wanders up to the camera and licks it all over! It seems to just meander up and then investigate the camera like it is something tasty. Glad that something dangerous was not placed into his environment instead. This footage still serves to show how much this area needs protection, and the creatures that call it home.

McDonald’s New Mascot

Don’t human children usually like cute mascots? Or maybe at the very least cool mascots? My human showed me McDonald’s new mascot, named Happy, and it is not guinea pig approved! Baby guinea pigs should not be exposed to it. The look in its eyes assures me it is plotting to eat all guinea pigs.

Just look at it!

Those teeth are perfect to eat guinea pigs (or human children), those eyes can only be plotting the demise of all life on Earth, the arms and and legs just make no sense because it is a box and should not be allowed mobility. The creature is named Happy when nothing about it makes me or anyone else happy. There is simply nothing redeemable about this. I, and all guineas at FT, think that human children cannot be fooled by this creature.

But what about dogs? I think that this is the only appropriate way to view this new thing:

This Corgi makes it look funny! Go Corgi!

All power to the dogs who can rip these boxes apart and prevent them from carrying out their evil plans…

Wednesday Woof! – Lab

Wednesday! Sorry for the lack of post last week, the human lost track again. She said something about summer being a busy time, but guinea pigs are always busy. There is food to eat, treats to beg for, running, hiding, eating again, and more. How can she be busier than we are?

I hear Labs are wonderful dogs, full of energy:

Ever have this happen when you take your dog to the park, or play fetch? Silly dogs, guinea pigs don’t even bother playing fetch!

Squirrel Pictures!

Mary Krupa, a student at Penn State University, befriended a squirrel on campus she calls Sneezy. For treats, Sneezy will sit with tiny paper hats on his head and pose with props for photos! Sneezy even has a Facebook page – Sneezy the Penn State Squirrel.

Squirrels easily adapt to “begging” and taking food from people (especially on college campuses), but they usually are not this compliant or tame.

Check out some pictures of Sneezy:

It must have been difficult to get this hat to stay on with the fuzzy stuff on the brim. Genius idea though!

The little “shoes” make this even more adorable! The plastic pumpkin is a very nice touch.

I love the idea of papercraft for light outfit props that can easily be shaken off and do no damage to the animal. Look at those adorable boots!

All of these photos and more can be seen on Sneezy’s facebook page here. Like Sneezy’s page to see future pictures and to show your support!

We here at FT think that we might be trying on some papercraft hats in the near future. I mean, it would be far better than some things our human has made us try on…

Awesome Google April Fools’ Day Jokes

Even if you didn’t enjoy my Cabbit joke, Google always has awesome April Fools’ Day jokes! This year was no different. Here were my favorites:

1. Google maps Pokemon Challenge

Here is a video that explains how they planned to hire the Pokemon Master who was able to complete the challenge of finding digital Pokemon hidden all over the world. Of course, technology is not advanced enough for this to really happen. But it does look like fun!

Google actually put 150 different Pokemon all over the world on their map application and allowed users to search for them and “catch” them. Each catch updated your Pokedex, so you could see which ones you found.

Here are screen shots of a Pokemon on the map and what catching it looked like:

Here is what your Pokedex looked like once you caught all 150 Pokemon:

2. Emoji Translation for Chrome
Have you ever wanted to translate everything you type into picture Emoji? You know, those little face pictures that convey meaning like happy, sad, excited, etc. I have not either, but the concept is really funny:

3. Chromecast for Squirrels
Squirrels can now use Google’s Chromecast device to stream videos, movies, and more with new paw friendly technology:

I loved this one, I mean squirrel superheros?!

4. Google Apps for Business Dogs
This one was my second favorite! Apps just for your dog so they can participate in doing business too, how useful! And of course the dog they feature in the video is simply adorable.
