101 Dalmatians Themed Engagement Photos

Are you a big Disney fan? Love 101 Dalmatians? Corinne Jones and her fiance Tony Collier love both and wanted to recreate the scene from the animated movie in which Pongo takes the initiative to unite Roger and Anita in the park.

(Disney)

Here is the animation of the entire scene:

The couple dressed in period fashion and used their own dogs Izzy, a mastiff mix, and Mookie, a black lab mix. While not dalmatians the two dogs are such a part of their owner’s lives that they deserved a part in the photos and memories for the couple. The dogs were incredibly well behaved and helped the shoot become what it needed to be. The hardest part was making sure that the couple’s facial expressions matched those from the animation scenes. The photographer is the couple’s cousin Melissa Biggerstaff.

Not yet together:

The reason the couple likes the love story in the movie so much Corinne explains:

“I’ve always loved that Roger and Anita were not the typical fairy tale — they were believable characters who didn’t just come together merely by wishing on a star and casting a magic spell, Pongo had to take the first step.”

Taking the initiative:

The couple started their relationship at a marching band formal in 2009. Disney has been a part of their relationship ever since. Their first vacation together was to Disney World and both worked at the Magic Kingdom after graduation. When Tony proposed he set up a scavenger hunt that ended with a picture of Corinne as Cruella da Vil, her favorite villain, and he used the lines of the villain’s henchman Horace who stated that he didn’t want a princess but a villain. So it was only natural to incorporate 101 Dalmatians into their engagement photos.

They even took photos of the pond scene:

In which they got wet but did not actually take a dip in the pond.

And Roger offering his sodden handkerchief:

Very cute and a unique idea! Did you incorporate your pets into special photo sessions like your engagement or wedding?

New Zootopia Concept Art

Disney is working on a new animated movie called Zootopia which features a city of all different kinds of animals living together. Each part of the city is specific to the varying needs of the different types of animals who call it home. The story will follow a rabbit, Officer Judy Hopps, who joins a police force of larger, stronger animals. To prove herself she teams up with a scam-artist fox to solve a mystery. Zootopia will open in theaters March 4, 2016.

Fitting for Big Hero 6 to win after Feast won earlier in the evening. The previews for the movie made it look like a funny action movie, but it has a lot of heart and great characters. I highly suggest checking it out if you have not seen it yet.

However, How To Train Your Dragon 2 would have been a great best animated movie as well.  I also suggest seeing this one if you have not seen it.

Hope you are enjoying the Oscars!

Winnie the Pooh Exhibition

Walt Disney Archives has an international traveling exhibit that is touring around Japan featuring Winnie the Pooh. Pooh is incredibly popular in American and Japan. The original books were translated in Japanese and the Disney movies released in theaters to much popularity.

The human loves Pooh bear and has high hopes that this exhibit, or one similar, will come to the US some day. If you live in or can visit Japan you might be lucky enough to see this one as is, and if not D23 did a nice write up where you can see more pictures here.

winniethepooh

The exhibit features items from the Disney archives like animation cells, movie posters, maquettes, books, and toys. The goal is simply to celebrate the art, history, and legacy of Winnie the Pooh.

Here is the entry way:

The Winnie the Pooh Exhibition opened in August in Tokyo, and has moved to Mitsukoshi department store in Fukuoka. The exhibit will continue traveling to different parts of Japan for the rest of the year and on into 2015.

Pooh bear is clearly a very popular and well loved bear. Don’t miss this chance to learn more and see items not usually available to the public if you are near the exhibit as it moves around Japan!

New Disney Short: Feast

Feast

The short Feast will play before Disney’s next animated feature Big Hero 6, which comes to theaters November 7.

feast-bowlFeast is another example of Disney pushing the boundaries between 2D and 3D animation. It will focus on the importance of food, but from a dog’s point of view. That dog is Winston and he has a great life with his owner James. Winston gets lots of yummy food until a girlfriend comes between them and thus conflict. How will it all turn out for Winston?

The human is looking forward to seeing Feast before Big Hero 6 soon!

Happy Earth Day!

Today is Earth Day! Did you do anything to celebrate?

In honor of the day here is a beautiful fox:

How does this picture relate to Earth Day? Well, it is a wild creature which we should help preserve and it is curled up in a round shape like the Earth! Yeah, that is it. Who needs an excuse to post such a cute picture anyways?

Also, don’t forget that if you go to see Disneynature’s Bears this week Disney will donate money in your honor to the National Park Foundation!

I saw Bears and it was really good! Brown Bears are powerful creatures and Disney does a great job of story telling even with wild subjects. The footage during the credits showing some of how the film makers do their work is well worth watching as well.

Disneynature’s next movie in theaters in time for next years Earth Day will be Monkey Kingdom. A movie about a troupe of monkeys which live in ancient ruins in the jungles of South Asia.

Disneynature Bears

Disneynature’s new movie Bears is out in theaters today!

96994cdeb15f11f86c20abd2d857d494c1b62af5

The movie follows a mother brown bear and her two cubs as the cubs experience life in Alaska outside their den for the first time.

If you see Bears opening week Disney will make a donation to the National Park Foundation to help protect wildlife and the places they call home. This corresponds with Earth Day, which is next week Tuesday.

Here are a couple more images from the movie:

Happy Anniversary Oswald the Lucky Rabbit

Today, September 5th, is the 86th anniversary of the first Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon from 1927 called Trolley Troubles.

oswald-the-lucky-rabbit
(source)

Who is Oswald? Oswald is a rabbit and was Walt Disney’s first animated character. He basically had Oswald taken from him. The upside? It led to the creation of Mickey Mouse and the rest of that story is history!

Oswald was reacquired by the Disney company and has started to make an appearance on merchandise, in the parks, and in the video game Epic Mickey 2.

An out of date picture, but nice example, of some Oswald merchandise:

The film does a beautiful job of presenting the secretive and beautiful interaction between plants and the creatures who pollinate them so both can survive. You can read more about the movie at Moving Art.
