At the Movies

I went and saw Toy Story 3 at midnight, and it was amazing and I highly recommend it!

The movie is funny and endearing, a good mix of adventure, emotion, story, and heart. Pixar has done it again, another wonderful movie! And I am not the only one that thinks this, the movie is getting amazing reviews from many different sources. I loved the first toy story, was pleasantly surprised to find that I loved the second one just as much if not a little more than the original, and now the 3rd installment is more of the same. If you loved the first two movies, you will certainly love this one.

While on the topic of movies, here are some trailers of future movies that I think you (0r I) may enjoy:

1. New Legend of the Guardians Trailer:

I will definitely be seeing this one in the theater. The animation looks awesome and the owls are so cute!

2. Alpha and Omega

I really dislike the Animation in this movie, and I am not sure I will be able to get past that. While I think that the premise sounds funny, I may be renting this one once it becomes easy to find. I also really do not like how they are adverting the movie in “eye popping 3D” when the animation is not great to begin with. I really hope that the movie will not be full of pointless plot gags just to get some 3D elements into the story that won’t translate well later on when it is out on DVD.

3. Cats and Dogs – The Revenge of Kitty Galore

I am not sure I remember if I saw Cats and Dogs, but this is one that I am willing to rent and see at home. I think this movie might prove to be mildly entertaining.

4. Tangled

Now this movie is not about cute animals or anything, but it looks really funny and I am excited to this new Disney movie!

Now Playing:

1. Shrek Forever After

I saw this one already. It has a good story line, humor, and I think it is a fitting end the franchise.

2. Marmaduke

I did not see Marmaduke, the previews made it look okay but not good enough for me to spend $9 to see it in the theater. Maybe you will feel differently though. I am looking forward to seeing this movie on DVD eventually though!

Nintendo E3 Game Announcements

Today at E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo),  Nintendo announced new games they are working on and releasing in the near future. Today they announded three cute games that I have to share:

1. Kirby’s Epic Yarn

I think Kirby is so cute, and even more so with the new yarn environment.

This game will be for the Wii game system.

Here are a couple images:

2. Pokepark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure

A game featuring Pikachu!

3. Nintendogs + Cats

I love Nintendogs, and this new game is for the new generation of the DS, the 3DS.

Game Description:

“The adorable puppies of Nintendogs come to life in the palm of your hand on the Nintendo 3DS system with even cuter and more expressive puppies. The interaction between puppy and player also goes beyond the screens to draw players in like never before.”

Silly Bandz

Being of college age, I tend to miss out on the new fads going around for younger kids but I found a news article yesterday that informed me of silly bandz. In case you too have missed out on this one, silly bandz happen to be shaped rubber bands which are worn as bracelets. The website describes them thus: “These colorful Animal Rubber Bands (Silly Bandz) are made of silicone and die molded in many different fun shapes. These rubber bands return to their original shape when you take them off.” They come in a great variety of shapes and colors, including things like food, animal, and sports shapes. They come in packages of 24 bands, six different shapes in various colors. Kids can then trade them with their friends or wear a ton of them.

The article I found was Silly Bandz braclet craze: School Ban Over Distraction. Apparently kids are distracted by playing with the bracelets. They also get into fights over them, making trades, or wanting to undo trades.

This reminds me of my elementary school days and Pogs! Fun for about a few weeks and they either get damaged, lost, or banned from school and are then no longer fun.

I believe that silly bandz are the original item that took off (but I am not exactly sure) because there are a ton of other companies that now make these. Six years ago I bought some animal rubber shapes that are exactly what they are selling now, but they were only advertised as rubber bands and that is how I used them. In any event, I think that the silly bandz are the best looking shapes.

Now comes the reason that I am posting about silly bandz, the animals shapes:
