Dog Mistaken for Lion

It is not everyday that a dog can be mistaken for a lion, and frankly I am not sure how it happens at all, but I recently saw the headline “Norfolk 911 calls for ‘baby lion’ turn up a coiffed dog.”

A labradoodle named Charles was mistaken for a baby lion while running down the street by three people who called 911 to report the animal to police.

His owner had the dog groomed to resemble the lion mascot of the Old Dominion University. He does look the part from a far I suppose, but not in size nor in overall structure and face once you actually get a good look at him. The incident made national news and Charles was featured on “Today” on CBS.

Cute Cake

It is time for another post of cute cake designs!

1. Dragon Cake

The detail in the fur and coloring on the dog is absolutely stunning! I would love to be able to add this level of fur detail to my own baking. This cake comes from D Bar Desserts.

4. Peacock Cake

I love peacocks! Cakes often have a more artistic or strange representation, but this one is both cute and elegant. I would definitely buy one of these cakes! Another wonderful example of work from D Bar Desserts.

5. Ark Cake

Noah’s ark is always a cute choice for a baby shower or young child’s birthday. This cute cake comes from Gateaux Inc.

6. Otter Cake

Otters holding hands is adorable, and they make an excellent topper for a wedding or anniversary cake. This is another fine example from Gateaux Inc.

7. Cow and Chicken

The cow’s hooves and little ears are precious and I love the coconut (or chocolate shaving?) feathers on the chicken! These cakes can be ordered from Sweet and Saucy Shop.

8. Lions

The detail on this cake is very nice and displays the bakers ability to portray animals. This cake comes from Sugarland.

9. Rubber Duckie

Rubber Duckies are always cute for kids! This design costs $340 from Sharon Wee Creations.

10. Sea Turtle

Sea turtles are cute too, this cake comes from Palermo’s Custom Cakes and Bakery.

11. Owl

A cute owl wearing a bow with little wings and tiny feet, a very nice cake for a girl’s birthday. This cake is just one example of the whimsical and professional designs from Lulu Custom Cake Boutique.

12. King Charles Cavalier

Most Pleasing Animal Noises

HyperVocal recently posted an article called “Let Mother Nature’s Most Pleasing Animal Noises Be Your Xanax.” While I am not sure I agree with their list, and some of the noises might be made in distress, there are some great noises on the list. I will present some of the videos and link to the article again at the end so you can see the entire list.

1. Bunny Snoring

For the longest time I did not know bunnies made noises except when in great distress because the only time I heard one was the piercing scream of a wild rabbit as it tried to escape from a cat. This video just makes me smile!

2. Fox

These noises are cute, but I know nothing of normal fox behavior and it looks like this is a display of submission. My final verdict is out on this one because of that but it is interesting to listen to.

3. Owl

The owl is so happy to be having his head scratched!

4. Penguin

I posted this video before, but it is just too cute to not share again!

5. Guinea Pig

I know that I am biased because I love guinea pigs but they make adorable noises especially when happy or demanding treats/attention.

Monopoly Dog Game Piece Saved!

Good news everyone, the Dog piece was saved during the “Save Your Token” contest! I did not ever really think the dog was in danger, but you never know and it was fun to participate in the contest.

The piece that was voted out? The Iron. I am not sure how I feel about that, I always thought the Iron was cool and even chose it as my piece when I could not be the dog. The Iron, Wheelbarrow, and shoe were all close in votes until the very end of the contest. I guess some companies got behind their favorite pieces with Ames True Temper making a video to support the Wheelbarrow. Hasbro will immediately stop production of the Iron game piece.

The piece that won to replace the Iron? The Cat.

The options people got to choose from were the robot, ring, cat, helicopter, and guitar:

Sad about the loss of the Iron, or that your new favorite was not chosen? Hasbro will release a special edition of the Monopoly game which will include all the old pieces as well as all of the new candidates on February 15. The new version of the game, with the Iron replaced by the Cat, will be released in the Fall.

IHOP National Pancake Day

Today, February 5th, is National Pancake Day where you can get free pancakes at IHOP! Head on over to your local IHOP to get a free stack of regular buttermilk pancakes (only at participating locations) until 10 pm.

Puppy Conan

Conan O’Brien once again had the segment Puppy Conan on last night’s show in honor of the Puppy Bowl.
