Puppy Conan

Conan O’Brien unveiled Puppy Conan on his show on Wednesday night in response to the Puppy Bowl.

He had a mini set made up that looks just like his regular set, with puppies dressed up in tiny wigs and a bit of clothing to look like Andy and Conan.

Close up of puppy Conan:

The puppies seemed a bit sad and unappreciative of their attire, so Conan and Andy went to join their puppy counterparts and give them some love. The little chihuahua in front is the puppy show guest, puppy Justin Bieber.

Funny Dog Toys

Today I discovered a couple of rather funny dog toys that serve as a fun play thing and a photo opportunity.

1. Humunga Tongue

A rubber ball with a large rubber tongue attached, this toy is available in multiple sizes for small to large breeds (by weight). You can buy it on Amazon.com from 6.99 – 8.99.

Here is what the toy looks like by itself:

2. Humunga Stache

Here is what they toy itself looks like, again a rubber ball with a rubber mustache shape attached to it:

This toy is also available at Amazon.com for around $10, and available for different sized dogs.

The company also has a different version – the Humunga Stache and Beard.

These are great to have around as a funny alternative to a dog Halloween costume, or just for the laughs and picture opportunities.

Puppies VS Babies

Animal Planet is having an online photo contest featuring your photos of puppies and babies with a chance to win $5,000!  The contest is currently open for picture submissions, and online voting will begin Saturday October 22.

The rules for the contest are at animal.discovery.com.

Here are the steps they list to enter the contest:

1. Find (or take) a picture to submit of a puppy or baby no more than 18 months old at the time the picture is taken. This means you can submit pictures take a number of years ago. The complete rules for what pictures are eligible for entry can be found here.

2. Submit the photo with your information (and a bit about the subject in the picture) on the contests main page.

3. Vote on October 22 – the votes will determine a top baby and a top puppy to compete in the championship round.

The baby and puppy that make it that far will get $5000!

I wish that I had pictures of one of the two to enter, but I have only ever had one puppy and he hated having his picture taken. I look forward to seeing all the pictures – and to see which make it to the final round.

Halloween at Disney

As of yesterday Disney World is now featuring its celebration of Halloween at the Magic Kingdom through decorations and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

I had not gone to one before, but when I found out that last night was the first party of the season I decided to attend. It was very cute and designed not to be too scary to little kids. Some things will probably scare them, but it is really tame. There are trick-or-treating stations throughout the park which I say provide a very decent amount of candy. On top of this there are special pictures spots, charater meet and greets, shows, a parade, and fireworks. Yesterday the event ran from 7pm to 12am, and I would think that other nights will be close to the same. It runs through the rest of Sepember and October.

My favorite parts of the event include being able to see the Disney characters dressed up in costumes, seeing all the visitors dressed up, and getting to see the unique features of the Halloween specific events.

My favorite part- they have a real horse leading the parade being ridden by the headless horsemen!

I would suggest this event if you are looking for a safe trick-or-treating alternative or just a fun Halloween event!

If you are interested in finding out more please visit Disney’s website.

This was my candy from the evening (well mostly, I had eaten and given away some of it), along with the back side of the bag provided which features the new movie Spooky Buddies:

Winnie the Pooh or Harry Potter?

Two very different movies open today: Winnie the Pooh and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Will you be seeing either or both?

Disney knows they are not going to win in box office numbers or theater attendence given the phenomena that is Harry Potter. Take a look at this video from Disney Animation:

They also posted this video:

A very cute response as only Disney can look on this in regard to how overshadowed their movie is as it comes out the same day as the last Harry Potter movie.

I will be going to see Winnie the Pooh this weekend. Will I be seeing Harry Potter? Probably…but maybe not this weekend.

I am of the Harry Potter generation, I grew up reading the books as they came out and even waited in line for midnight releases of the books. Interestingly, or maybe not, the movies failed to capture me as a fan. I have seen all the previous movies up to this point, and even went to some midnight releases.  After I read the final book it did not fulfull my expectations after reading, and waiting for, the series over so many years. I enjoyed the series because of the delay in books and the expectations/desire that created, but disliked the series resolution because I had higher expectations due to all the build up. Oh well, that is how it goes – I know many who feel very differently about Harry Potter.

Hope you guys enjoy this crazy movie weekend!
