Groundhog Day is here, and in this area we are covered in a ridiculous amount of snow. It is no surprise that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. That means six more weeks of winter.
Where Phil lives there was a mix of snow and rain this morning. Last year Phil also saw his shadow, and it was a long and brutal winter. However, you cannot really base your weather predictions on a rodent. Since the tradition began in 1887 Phil has seen his shadow 101 times, not 17 times, and there are 9 years for which there is no data. Overall he has an 80% rate of accuracy.
Hope you are not too sad by Phil’s prediction!
