World Animal Day is October 4, a day to bring awareness to and celebrate all animals. In celebration the Royal Canin Experience Center in Amsterdam opened a pop up restaurant for dogs and cats.
There was a menu, and the bowls had each animals name on it for the photo shoot/press event:
It looks like a fancy eating establishment. I mean, they made sure the dogs were arranged to eat at tables of the proper height and they had cushions to sit on.
While the human couldn’t find any more information about this event, but she gave us a little more information on World Animal Day. The date of World Animal Day coincides with the feast of St. Francis of Assisi who is the patron saint of animals.
St. Francis spoke of the greatness and beauty of God’s creation and it is legend that he preached to wild animals who would listen to his voice and not run away. That is cool and appropriate for a day celebrating animals!
Budweiser has a new ad out with the message to always drink responsibly. The consequences can be catastrophic and have for far too many people. The company utilizes a man’s relationship with his dog to demonstrate the potential outcome when you drink and drive.
Some people inherently understand this, and others need a little push. Animal ads can help those who feel a greater connection to, or are more emotionally driven by, animals. Please, do not drink and drive. No matter how badly you think you need to get home your life and the lives of everyone you love matter more.
An organization which helps rescue Golden Retrievers did this photo shoot as a way to show off the adorableness of the breed (as if they needed any help):
Look at those ears! There is no way to resist a face that adorable, unless you like guinea pigs more…Then it might be easy. And for the record guinea pigs are not good at keeping track of what day of the week it is, our human is supposed to be on top of that.
Wednesday came and went and I forgot to post my Wednesday Woof! So here it is on Thursday. You know, sometimes being a guinea pig is hard work. All that eating, hiding, and sleeping… It makes posting difficult.
Have you ever just been so tried after you eat that you curl up in your bowl? Maybe you just love your food that much?
I recently saw a few of the The Butter End Cakery’s creations and wanted to feature the business in a post!

Such a neat way to include your dog! This is funny and minimal. You can have an elegant cake that does not only feature your dog, but still includes them for your special day!

Here is the full sculpture, not necessarily cute but definitely amazing:

Even if you didn’t enjoy my Cabbit joke, Google always has awesome April Fools’ Day jokes! This year was no different. Here were my favorites:
1. Google maps Pokemon Challenge
Here is a video that explains how they planned to hire the Pokemon Master who was able to complete the challenge of finding digital Pokemon hidden all over the world. Of course, technology is not advanced enough for this to really happen. But it does look like fun!
Google actually put 150 different Pokemon all over the world on their map application and allowed users to search for them and “catch” them. Each catch updated your Pokedex, so you could see which ones you found.
Here are screen shots of a Pokemon on the map and what catching it looked like:
Here is what your Pokedex looked like once you caught all 150 Pokemon:
2. Emoji Translation for Chrome
Have you ever wanted to translate everything you type into picture Emoji? You know, those little face pictures that convey meaning like happy, sad, excited, etc. I have not either, but the concept is really funny:
3. Chromecast for Squirrels
Squirrels can now use Google’s Chromecast device to stream videos, movies, and more with new paw friendly technology:
I loved this one, I mean squirrel superheros?!
4. Google Apps for Business Dogs
This one was my second favorite! Apps just for your dog so they can participate in doing business too, how useful! And of course the dog they feature in the video is simply adorable.
This fuzzy little guy looks like he is enjoying the snow, but you can see the grass under there! We are getting so close to being able to see grass here. If it is the same where you live may this puppy bring you a smile!
Why you might ask? Well, I have not seen these little guys receive enough attention recently given the huge interest I have seen online for Pomskies. While there are distinct differences between these two breeds, I thought I would feature this established breed that might just fill that need in your life or be an even better option for your family.
The Klee Kai is basically a smaller version of the Alaskan Husky, standing up to 17 inches high and weighing 10 to 25 pounds. It has an established breed standard, and is recognized by the American Rare Breed Association and the United Kennel Club. All coat colors are acceptable as long as the face mask is distinct with a lighter color on the throat, chest, and underside. The coat should be thick and silky, with feathering on the ears and feet. Ears should be erect. You can read the full breed standard here.
The breed was created around 1970 in the US, but is still rare. The name Klee Kai derives from the Eskimo words for little dog. This breed is meant to be a companion rather than a working dog like the larger dog it resembles, and is therefore intelligent and energetic. They can be kept in small spaces like apartments, but they do need regular exercise. Klee Kais are cleanly dogs, requiring regular brushing but only really needing bathing every so often. They are loving with their family, but can be cautious of strangers, which makes them a good watchdog. They require a firm owner willing to train them.
Much smaller and more manageable for owners looking for a dog with that husky appeal but cannot have, or do not want, a large animal.
How much do these puppies cost? Well, they are a rare breed and costs do vary by breeder but they can go for around $2000 – $3000. Fair warning before getting too attached to wanting one of these beauties!
So think carefully if you are interested in one of these puppies. They are still rare and do cost a lot. This can lead to backyard breeders or puppy mill kinds of situations offering you less costly puppies that come from questionable practices. So be careful, do your research, and if you still want one of these guys look into the resources below:
