Microsoft

I was introduced to a neat article a little bit about that features 10 fun facts about Microsoft. The article appeared on Mashable, and was titled 10 Fun Microsoft Fact You Might Not Know.

Why would I mention such an article?

Because of the bonus fact at the very end of the article:

The Microsoft Campus is Full of Bunnies!

Apparently the bunnies are the result of people leaving their pets on the company’s campus, resulting in more bunnies!

This is not only a problem for Microsoft, but also affects other companies in the same area like Nintendo. This is called the Redmond Rabbit Problem, and there is a coalition dedicated to trying to come up with a good solution to help all the bunnies.

University of Victoria Bunnies

So today I happened upon an article on boing boing that explained there are thousands of rabbits at British Columbia’s University of Victoria.

Apparently the number of bunnies is due to people abandoning their unwanted pets on the campus and their numbers have simply grown over time due to breeding, continual abandonment, and people feeding them. These rabbits are now ferral, and are not pets.

The campus has launched a public awareness campaign in an effort to protect the rabbits, people, and the environment. Having so many rabbits in one place is a stress to local plant life and can cause health problems for people. The goal is to stop people from continuing to abandon pet rabbits on campus, stop people from feeding the bunnies, and to prevent animal cruelty.

To read more about the rabbits on campus and what they are trying to do to help both people and the rabbits, visit Rabbits @ UVic.

Here is a video of a man feeding the bunnies that shows their interest in people, and an idea of their numbers:

Bunnies in Sweaters!

So I was looking into how to make a sweater for a bunny…not that I have a bunny mind you, just for fun to see if there was any info out there. Of course, I never did find anything about making sweaters for bunnies, but what follows are what I did find.

1. A discussion about whether bunnies need to wear sweaters on Flickr, Bunny Lovers Unite. Here are some pictures that users included:

2. Bunnies made out of sweaters

This is a bunny made out of an angora sweater, made by Sonja Ahlers.

3. This bunny wearing a sweater at Tiarasaurus Knits:

5. Animals in Outfits:

And just because I love Guinea Pigs…here a couple from this wonderful site:

Super Bowl Commercials!

Besides being a good game, this Super Bowl had a few really cute commercials! I personally really liked the Budweiser Clydesdale ones (because I love horses) and the Coke commercial where the bugs are taking the bottle and get it open. Also, I loved the appearance of the bunny in the cars.com commercial.

Here is the Clydesdale Circus Commercial with Daisy:

Bunny Ride!

I am back at college, my fall break is over. So to try and keep unstressed before I return to classes tomorrow, I am posting the picture that I was unable to post while I was home.

This picture helped me be less stressed while I studied for my mid-terms:

The bunny in the back is soo cute! This picture comes from bunchofnerds.com.
