New Pokemon!

Also recently revealed to the world was a new Pokemon called Zorua! I was able to locate more information about this new addition from Bulbanews.

Zorua is a dark type pokemon:

And its evolution Zoroark, also a dark type:

Here on its hind legs

Here they are pictured together:

Apparently the evolved form is going to be featured in a new Pokemon movie called Ruler of Illusions: Zoroark.

It is very exciting to see one of the next generation of pokemon! Not to mention that it has a very fox like look about it. I am glad that they are continuing with the series and will be adding even more pokemon to collect.

Also, if you are located in the US, the next Pokemon event is at Gamestop. Jerachi will be available until March 13th!

Horses – The Story of Equus

Hello again! Sorry for my lack of posts this past week but I have been helping out my mom who just had surgery, so I did not have a lot of time to get online.

Today I have for you Horses – The Story of Equus, which was on the IMAX and will soon be available on DVD. I never got to see this when it was in the theatre back in 2002, but I look forward to being able to see it!

The movie features the story of three different horses which were born on the same night but live extraordinarily different lives, the racer, the rascal, and the run away. The movie is only around 40 minutes long, but reviews say it has good visuals and a nice story.

For some Monday fun:

If you would like to play fun horse games online (or know of a little girl who would), take a look at Funhorsegames. You can play games, build and color horses, and just have fun.

Here is an example of what you can make with the Narnia Horse Builder:

World’s Tallest Dog

Yesterday, at dogster’s, I found the article Guinness Announces World’s Tallest Dog Ever. Guinness is looking for record setting dogs and found George, a 4 year old Great Dane who now holds the record for the tallest living dog and the tallest dog ever. He weighs 245 pounds, is 43 inches from his sholder to his paw, and is a total of 7 feet 3 inches from nose to tail. That is one big dog!

Here is a size reference for his paws:

Look at those long doggie legs!

And he still thinks he is a lap dog!

Peeps!

Peeps are both adorable and edible!

Some people love them, some will only eat them stale, and others hate them. I think they are an adorable and irreplaceable part of Easter. Yes, they do make Peeps for almost any holiday now, I enjoy the original shapes the best. My favorite flavor of Peeps come out at Valentines however, with the strawberry and vanilla hearts. I think they may also make flavored eggs…or that could be discontinued, I do not know.

This year they also have chocolate covered peeps! Which solve the problem for people who hate that the outer coating of peeps is sugar. I tried one today, they are very good!

Peep Facts:

1. Peeps were originally made by hand, and it took 27 hours to make each one!

2. There are only 32 calories in each peep

3. Peeps are made by the Just Born Company, click the link to see a tour of making peeps.

4. Peeps expand when placed in the microwave

5. Peeps now come in a major variety of colors:

6. Peeps make great subjects for art projects:

7. Peeps make a great science project. Check out peepresearch.org to see all of the experiments!

New Toy Story 3 Characters!

The next movie presents the classic Toy Story characters after Andy goes off to college and they end up in a day care center. There is currently a movie poster up that shows silhouettes of new characters which are being slowly revealed.

Here are three of the newly revealed characters –

Lots-O-Huggin’ Bear

Peas-in-a-Pod

Here is my favorite new character: Buttercup!

I would have loved this little toy unicorn if I were a kid!

Here is the poster introducing the new characters, I am excited to see what other characters are announced!

Dogs and Law and Order

I came across a blog article earlier today that showed off YouTube clips of dogs and how they reacted to the theme music of Law and Order. These dogs either love it or hate, most howling during the theme. I have no idea why this happens, but it seems there is something to the music that maybe only a dog can hear. I have lived with a few dogs, but I have never had one howl at anything other than my poor violin playing as a child. But then again, I am not a Law and Order fan.

If you search “Law and Order Dogs” on Youtube you will find tons of clips demonstrating different dogs reactions. You can decide from their reactions whether it sounds like a love or hate reaction. Here are a few to demonstrate this strange occurance:

Bunnies in Sweaters!

So I was looking into how to make a sweater for a bunny…not that I have a bunny mind you, just for fun to see if there was any info out there. Of course, I never did find anything about making sweaters for bunnies, but what follows are what I did find.

1. A discussion about whether bunnies need to wear sweaters on Flickr, Bunny Lovers Unite. Here are some pictures that users included:

2. Bunnies made out of sweaters

This is a bunny made out of an angora sweater, made by Sonja Ahlers.

Westminster Dog Show

My second post today! Crazy I know, but hey I did not want to pass up a quick post for the winner of the 134th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. I will also be gone on vacation Thurday and Friday, so there might not be a new post until next week – sorry!

With this win Saddie become the first dog to win the dog-show Triple Crown – wins at the National Dog Show, American Kennel Club/Eukanuba National Championship, and Westminster. Avatar: the Last Airbender – Appa’s New Look

I loved the Nickelodeon cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender. It was well animated, full of lovable characters, humor, action, and it had a great plot. My favorite animal character was Appa, Aang’s giant flying water bison.

If you have never seen the cartoon I recommend it (it is only three seasons long) and there is a new live action move coming July 2, 2010 titled The Last Airbender, directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

The story in the TV series focuses on a war between the four different nations of earth, water, fire, and air. The war was initiated by the fire nation which desires to conquer the world. Each nation can fight and work by bending the element particular to that nation. The avatar’s job is to maintain peace between the nations and can do so because they are the one person who can control all four elements. The avatar is reborn after the previous avatar dies as a member of a different nation. The show focuses on the last air bender, Aang, who is the last person from the air nation, due to the conquest by the fire nation, and who is also the current avatar. It follows his struggles and friendships as he attempts to restore peace to the four nations. That is a very simplistic explanation of the show, but it is great and I highly suggest seeing it on DVD.

For reference, here is Appa from the cartoon:

Here he is with human characters for a size reference:

Here are some toys of him from the TV show:

Stuffed toy from the front –

Here is the plastic action figure, looking very intense –

Today I saw pictures of what the toys of Appa will look like for the movie:

I will have to get used to Appa’s new and more realistic look. But I think that seeing him in the movie will make all the difference!
