Doga!

Doga, or dog yoga, involves people doing yoga with their dogs.

I am not the biggest fan of yoga, but I am a fan of exercising with your dog! This offers a unique way to connect with your dog while teaching them to withstand your touch.

World’s Tallest Dog

Yesterday, at dogster’s, I found the article Guinness Announces World’s Tallest Dog Ever. Guinness is looking for record setting dogs and found George, a 4 year old Great Dane who now holds the record for the tallest living dog and the tallest dog ever. He weighs 245 pounds, is 43 inches from his sholder to his paw, and is a total of 7 feet 3 inches from nose to tail. That is one big dog!

Here is a size reference for his paws:

Look at those long doggie legs!

And he still thinks he is a lap dog!

Dogs and Law and Order

I came across a blog article earlier today that showed off YouTube clips of dogs and how they reacted to the theme music of Law and Order. These dogs either love it or hate, most howling during the theme. I have no idea why this happens, but it seems there is something to the music that maybe only a dog can hear. I have lived with a few dogs, but I have never had one howl at anything other than my poor violin playing as a child. But then again, I am not a Law and Order fan.

If you search “Law and Order Dogs” on Youtube you will find tons of clips demonstrating different dogs reactions. You can decide from their reactions whether it sounds like a love or hate reaction. Here are a few to demonstrate this strange occurance:

Westminster Dog Show

My second post today! Crazy I know, but hey I did not want to pass up a quick post for the winner of the 134th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. I will also be gone on vacation Thurday and Friday, so there might not be a new post until next week – sorry!

Best in Show: Sadie the Scottish Terrier

With this win Saddie become the first dog to win the dog-show Triple Crown – wins at the National Dog Show, American Kennel Club/Eukanuba National Championship, and Westminster. She was the number one rated dog going into this competition, but it was her third attempt to win at Westminster. She now has 112 best in show awards.

Other competitors at the show:

Komondor

White Terrier

Brittany Spaniel

French Bulldog

Chinese Crested

Doberman Pincher, C.J. — the number two rated dog going into the show

Basset Hounds

Super Bowl Commercials!

Yesterday I watched the adorable Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet, and then I watched the Super Bowl…mainly to see the commercials.

The Puppy Bowl was so cute! I loved watching the puppies and the different camera shots gave more interest to it. The bunny cheerleaders who just sat on the sidelines were very comical, as were the hamsters “flying” the Twizzlers’ blimp. Even better was that they replayed the “game,” so I got to watch it before the Super Bowl started and again after it was over!

There were not that many commercials featuring cute animals, but there were many funny ones that contain cute stars. Here are the cutest commercials that I saw this Super Bowl:

1. Doritos: Underdog

2. E*Trade Baby with Girlfriend

3. Monster.com fiddling Beaver

4. Coca-Cola – Sleepwalker

5. Kia Sorento

6. And of course, Budweiser had another cute commerical about their Clydesdale horses:
